When we don’t know that love and dysfunction can be separate… We recreate the combination over and over.

The key to exiting this pattern often begins with just learning that something else exists; that love without mistreatment is normal. This can be mind-blowing for some depending on the upbringing they come from 🤯

This is a reminder to those who learned to excuse behaviour if it was justified as being “from love”: you are allowed to leave that paradigm behind. You are allowed to require love with no mistreatment.

“I’m afraid to tell him what I want. When is it too soon to have the ‘what are you looking for?’ conversation?”

“Wait a minute,” I said, “I’m confused. You’re acting like your vision for love isn’t a mediocrity-shattering gift to whoever chooses you. You want a love that challenges you, that awakens you. You want to give someone your whole heart, and to receive that in return. What about that is reason to be timid to share?” I asked.

She closed her eyes for a moment, and smiled. “Right,” she said, chuckling.

When you know the magnificence of love, and you stand for its integrity, and its greatness, share it proudly. Let them be the standards. Let’s keep speaking it and see how we all blossom and grow.
